A massive fire engulfed multiple homes at Minot Beach in Scituate, Massachusetts, US, on March 24.

The blaze broke out on Glades Road at about 8 pm and quickly spread to at least five beachside homes, turning the night sky orange and sending a plume of smoke into the air that could be seen for miles.

Firefighters from a number of fire stations rushed to the scene to battle the five-alarm blaze, but high winds hampered their efforts to control the flames. Neighboring residents were told to expect power outages and water issues as a result of the fire, which was fanned by strong winds.

Videos and photos of the inferno were shared widely on social media, showing flames four stories high and embers flying off the fire and landing on other properties' roofs. Mike Corcoran, a neighbor who witnessed the blaze, said "Like nothing I've ever seen in my life."

Despite the intensity of the fire, all residents were reported to be clear of the burning buildings, and no injuries were reported. However, the destruction caused by the fire was significant, with at least five homes destroyed by the blaze.
