A Syrian national has been arrested for allegedly selling illegal drugs to fellow foreigners and rich Filipino customers in the Philippines.

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Task Force Against Illegal Drugs raided a condominium in Mandaluyong City, Metro Manila and arrested the suspected drug dealer, said to be a 'one-stop shop' supplier for clubbers and foreigners in the area.

Officers first conducted a 'test-buy' operation before converging on the man's room to detain him on March 25.

They seized millions of Philippine pesos in illegal drugs, including cannabis, ecstasy, and the date rape drug Gamma-hydroxybutyrate or GHB in liquid form.

Inside the suspect's vault were thick wads of cash worth more than two million pesos believed to be drug money.

NBI deputy spokesperson Atty. Gertrude Paris Manandeg said: 'His patrons were foreign nationals and well-to-do Filipinos.

'The fight against illegal drugs does not discriminate, whether it involves ordinary individuals or foreigners.'

The unnamed suspect has been charged with violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act. He has declined to speak to local media.
