Young ethnic Shan boys dubbed as Sang Long dressed in colorful costumes are carried during a procession parade as part of the Poy Sang Long festival, a rite celebration of Buddhist novice ordination at Wat Ku Tao Temple. Poy Sang Long is a Buddhist novice ordination ceremony among the Shan people also called Tai Yai tribal in Myanmar and northern part of Thailand, but unlike any other ceremony of its type in the country. Young boys aged between seven and 14, known as the 'Crystal Sons' will be ordained as novices to learn the Buddhist doctrines to gain merit for their parents and families.
