A terrified housewife has told how she found a 12ft-long wild python rearing up from the toilet.

The ferocious reptile appeared in the bowl while housewife Suwipa Paramat, 26, was washing her hands, having just finished using the bathroom.

Suwipa recoiled in horror as she turned back from the sink and the beast leapt towards her at her home in Samut Prakan province, Thailand on March 17.

She said: 'I saw a long, yellow figure in the toilet from the corner of my eye. I thought to myself, 'that wasn't me, so what exactly was in the toilet?' Then I turned and I saw the python's head.'

Suwipa ran from the room screaming with the 'soap still on her hands' and called her husband and brother-in-law for help. They were too afraid to grab it themselves and first called the security guards, who made a valiant but failed attempt to fish the beast out of the bowl. The family later rang the emergency services.

Footage shows a rescuer securing the snake with a catching tool. Two men forced it out to no avail. Eventually, the residents permitted the wildlife handler to smash the ceramic toilet basin with the snake still stuck in the u-bend. Suwipa watched as they carried the plumbing work outside.

Suwipa said: 'I told him to do whatever it takes. It took him about 30 minutes before finally catching the snake. Its body fell out the moment the toilet fell. It's as if its body has been stuck inside. '

The snake was eventually removed from the toilet bowl. Its stomach was too big for the hole so they had to pull it from the other side with the pipework dismantled.

No one was hurt and the snake was taken by rescuers to be released later.

The traumatised housewife admitted she is still frightened from the incident, saying: 'Now, whenever I go to the toilet I check the toilet bowl. I normally check all of the toilet seats wherever I go. I always push the flush first to make sure it's safe.

'I think it will be a while before I get over it. I will still be paranoid. I will have to look down whenever I sit on the toilet. Before, I used to take my time sitting on the toilet, but now I will have to finish fast.'

The reticulated python is found throughout Southeast Asia, where they live in forests, swamps, canals and even in cities, causing them to come into conflict with humans. The species is one of the world's largest snakes and can eat humans, cats, dogs, birds, rats and other snakes.
