Indonesian residents create functioning toy planes from waste materials
a resident of padang, named dodi kurniawan utilized a number of wastes such as styroform, plastic bottles, and rubber to create rubber-powered airplanes. Located at Sutan Sjahrir Airport, Padang City, Dodi with his friends and children tried to take off the rubber-powered plane he had created.
dodi said "the rubber-powered airplane, designed with care to get good results, for the fuselage I made from used styrofoam, for the propellers I made from plastic bottles, and the engines from rubber food packaging,".
Dodi also explained "the rubber-powered aircraft can be flown when the rubber is rotated which is assisted by a fishing pulley, we have to feel the direction of the wind, because it cannot be flown when the wind is too strong,".
currently Dodi has a number of rubber powered aircraft such as the Cesla and P-30 types. "The P-30 is already included in your sport, what is assessed is how long it can fly, a maximum of at least 2 minutes,".
Dodi hopes that young people in Indonesia, especially the city of Padang, will be able to think about how to process waste into interesting works, one of which is like this rubber-powered airplane.
