A group of legal professionals gathered outside the Royal Courts of Justice today (March 29), to announce their intention to not act for new fossil fuel projects or prosecute individuals who oppose fossil fuel projects.

Around 140 lawyers, part of Lawyers Are Responsible, published the 'Declaration of Conscience', and are prepared to withdraw their labour.

Barrister Paul Powesland addressed supporters, which included three Insulate Britain and Just Stop Oil activists, Amy Pritchard, Giovanna Lewis and David Nixon, who received custodial sentences.

He also claimed, in court, judge Silas Reid put forward an idea that climate protesters could be tried without a jury, bypassing regular legal processes.

Indigenous group, the Krenak people of southeastern Brazil, spoke about their struggle for justice, in the country's worse environmental disaster when a dam owned by foreign mining companies collapsed releasing toxic mud.
