This is the terrifying moment a raging storm ripped the roof from a resident's shed in Thailand.

Footage shows violent gales whipping through a neighbourhood in Chaiyaphum province on Wednesday afternoon March 29. As rain and gusts battered homes, the shed's corrugated iron roof was suddenly peeled away by a blast of wind, leaving the interior exposed to the downpour.

A local staying inside moved to a separate area of the building to take shelter from the storm.

The Thai Meteorological Department said the southerly and southeasterly winds were prevailing over the country's central, eastern, and northeastern regions.

High temperatures with isolated thunderstorms and gusty winds are expected in northern Thailand, the agency said.

Thailand and other countries in Southeast Asia are approaching their annual monsoon rainy season which sees soaring temperatures followed by powerful rain storms.
