A wild cobra was caught next to a gym swimming pool in Thailand.

The serpent slithered across the tiled corridor when it was spotted by shocked customers while working out on the island of Phuket on February 28.

Staff were immediately informed and evacuated the animal as their clients watched from behind the glass walls.

Footage shows a gym employee casually pinning down the snake with a mop.

He then pushed it inside an empty container of whey protein powder labelled ‘chocolate.' The creature tried to escape but was eventually secure in less than a minute.

Customer Namfom said: ‘We don't know how it entered the place. We just saw it passing through while we were exercising. It was so scary.'
