Squid Game star Geoffrey Giuliano has spoken of the alleged assault he suffered while trying to order a burger at an airport McDonald's in Amsterdam.

U.S. actor Geoffrey Giuliano - who played cult hero VIP 4 in the series - was returning from a work trip in Lisbon, Portugal, when the incident unfolded on December 31.

The father-of-six, 69, said he visited the McDonald's outlet during a connection at the Amsterdam Airport Schiphol when the staff allegedly refused to serve him a veggie burger.

Footage shows how a male employee barged into Geoffrey, who had been using a wheelchair for a knee injury sustained during a movie stunt, before a second man appeared to raise his hand towards him.

Geoffrey - who once played Ronald McDonald on TV during his acting career - claims he was assaulted during the confrontation and has demanded that McDonald's apologise. He said he is also strongly considering further legal action.

Speaking in the video interview, he says: 'I had been on a shoot in Lisbon, Portugal, and my son and I had a layover at the Amsterdam Airport. It was quite a long layover, and the service on the plane was not good.

'We weren't able to get any food and hardly anything to drink, so when we got off, we wanted to try to get something... We were looking for a place and we saw McDonald's.

'When we got there, there was an older Indian gentleman who welcomed us, put us in line, was courteous. Meanwhile, they were serving people, there were people behind me, and just two or three people in front of me. As I got to just a couple of people to be served, the manager went 'Oh no, sorry, sorry, we're closed now'.

'And I said, 'I've been in line here, I would like to get something. I'm pre-diabetic, and I can't go too long without something'.

'He stopped it, and I made some kind of protest. Then he came towards me. At that point, I turned on my cellphone because I felt that I was in perhaps some danger, and I wanted to record what was going on. Or maybe, that by holding up the cellphone, it would defuse the situation, and that he would just back off and calm down.

'That didn't happen. He came forward, he struck me from the side, and... the situation progressed with some unhappy words.

'This gentleman was completely out of line. I'm not asking for anything special. I'm just asking for the service they were providing for everyone else before I got in line. In front of me, people were being served, and after this incident, they served people, so how can it (the restaurant) be closed?

'The only thing I can think is that he heard us talking. We were talking in a normal tone, but he could hear the American accent, so maybe he didn't like that. I don't know the answer as to why he did this... But I can surmise that possibly, it was because we were American. The situation just escalated to the point where he struck me with his body.

'Yes, I'm going to take legal action, and I would like any attorneys out there from that part of the world to come represent me... But mainly, the basis of this story was informational. I wanted people to know what was happening, how people were being treated, so perhaps it wouldn't happen again.'

Geoffrey's son Eden, who was present during the ordeal, added: 'I was pushing my dad around in the airport, and we were just trying to get some food. We didn't really have many options because we don't eat meat, so we just went to go to McDonald's.

'When we got in line, the guy was like 'Hey we're closed' even though it clearly should not have been closed, and why just when we stepped in the line? And everything just went downhill from that.

'It was upsetting because I just wanted to get food with my dad and carry on with my flight. I was confused and scared. I just wanted the situation to cool down.

'I was definitely embarrassed because everyone was looking, and he was being too touchy with my dad. I just wanted to get my food and sit down just like everybody.

'Maybe my dad is just a magnet for bad events.'

The operators of the McDonald's branch did not reply to requests for comment. However, in a previous email exchange with Geoffrey, they claimed that the 'the restaurant closed at 20.00 PM'.

However, video metadata shows the video was recorded at 5:54 PM and Geoffrey's flight with Dutch carrier KLM departed at 8:55 PM.

The company wrote: 'Thank you for your response, informing us about your visit on New Year's Eve 2022 at one of the McDonald's restaurants at Schiphol Airport, where you and your son, during a long layover, were unable to order food.

'Please be informed that the restaurant closed at 20.00 PM on New Year's Eve. Since you entered the waiting line before the cash register after 20.00 PM, you were no longer able to place an order since the restaurant had officially closed.

'The guests in front of you had placed their orders before 20.00 PM and hence were being served. We have looked at the footage you sent us and based on that, we do not agree that the manager (or any other staff) assaulted, humiliated or harassed you. The footage clearly indicates that they were being filmed against their will and without their permission.'
