This is the shocking moment a shirtless drunk tourist was arrested after rampaging through a restaurant in Thailand.

The hulking foreigner - who appeared to be fresh from the gym with rippling muscles - barged into the spicy food restaurant while shouting at terrified customers before storming into the kitchen.

Police rushed to the scene of the disturbance in the notorious coastal city Pattaya at 3 AM on March 23.

They found the muscular man aged between 35 to 40 screaming loudly while running around the restaurant. He had ignored requests from the shop's staff to leave, prompting them to call the authorities.

Thai onlooker Max, 42, said the man 'came out of nowhere' and also made a scene at his restaurant, before leaving and wreaking havoc in the other eatery.

Max said: 'He was drunk, very drunk. I've never seen him before.'

Upon seeing the approaching cops, the tourist fled to the second floor of the Isan restaurant to hide. Police had to enlist the help of locals to subdue him due to his strength.

The bodybuilder was wrestled to the ground and police eventually managed to cuff him. He was taken to station to sober up but had no identifying documents in his wallet.

Police Colonel Thanapong Photi said: 'The suspect made people in the restaurant scared. He was aggressive and resisted arrest. It took five people to contain him.'

Military top brass from Bangkok have been trying for several years to clean up Pattaya, dubbed the 'sex capital' of the world and a modern-day Sodom and Gomorrah, as they battle to kick out badly behaving Brits and Aussies, and turn the region into a family-friendly resort to tap into lucrative family markets in China, India and Russia.

However, they face an uphill struggle against its entrenched 24-hour sex industry and endemic corruption that allows it to continue unabated. The bars - many of which are run by British ex-pats and function as shop windows for cheap prostitutes - along with massage parlours and street workers are also a lucrative part of the tourism industry, which before the pandemic accounted for 21 percent of Thailand's annual GDP, generating 1.8 trillion baht (52.3 billion USD) in revenue.
