A gas compressor explosion at Indonesia's Pertamina refinery led to a massive fire on Saturday, April 1.

At least nine people have been injured, and the cause is under investigation.

An intense fire occurred at the Putri Tujuh Oil Refinery, Pertamina RU 2 Dumai, Riau, at around 22:35 WIB, Saturday (1/4/2023) evening. There was an explosion as flames soared high. The explosion was felt up to 10 kilometers.

The cause of the fire at the oil refinery is not yet known. However, the fire department has been dispatched to the location.

According to information from the field, local residents such as the Mundam, Jaya Mukti and Tanjung Palas areas rushed out of their homes when they heard the explosion.

In the video circulating in the community, you can see flames blazing and the sound of a loud explosion from the location of Pertamina's oil refinery.

To note, from information circulating on social media, there are residents' houses that are cracked and even the ceiling of the Taqwa mosque on Jalan Sudirman has fallen down. This mosque is approximately 1 kilometer from the position of the resident's house.

Residents' houses were also affected. some of the glass houses shattered and cracked due to the vibrations from the explosion.

Pertamina, through Agustiawan, Pertamina Dua Dumai Public Relations Manager, will ensure that the losses suffered by residents will be compensated. his party will temporarily extinguish the fire and conduct an investigation into the cause of this fire.
