Mum finds hidden driveway under her lawn
A mum found a hidden driveway under her lawn after she peeled back the grass to reveal a layer of bricks.
Charlotte Smith, 32, was surprised to find bricks poking out from underneath the grass in March 2023.
Her husband, Jamie, 33, an electrician, and their son, eight, spotted the bricks and called for Charlotte to come and look.
The family cut and pulled back the lawn in the front garden to reveal a four metre driveway.
Charlotte, a hairdresser who lives in Lowestoft, Suffolk, said: "My son and husband were outside doing some gardening."
"They saw a brick and starting cutting the grass."
"My son came running up excited and said ‘look what we found’."
"We peeled it all back and found a full on driveway."
"It came up so easily."
"It’s magic."
Charlotte and Jamie bought the £475,000 home in February this year and are planning to renovate the property themselves.
They believe the previous owners bought the house in the 1920s but would have put down the carpet lawn more recently.
She said: "It had fully grown over."
"There were no weeds."
"Hopefully it’s still in tact and we can keep the drive."
"It’s a perfect spot to now park the cars."
The garden is so overgrown the family found a secret shed they hadn’t spotted when they bought their new home.
Charlotte added: "We found a shed hidden behind the trees and bushes."
"This place is a hidden gem."
