A stray cat stuck in the ceiling of a nightclub was rescued through a hole in the lighting fixture.

The feline caught the attention of workers as its footsteps and cries could be heard above the entertainment establishment's toilet last week in Bangkok, Thailand.

Finally, the creature seemed to have found the light and was poking to push it down until someone saw it and reported it to the bar's management.

Footage shows a worker removing the hot lamp with a tissue on a ladder. When he finally took it out, the stray stuck its head down and squeezed through the hole with the help of the man.

They nicknamed the feline 'Bass' after the sound of the club's speakers.

Nightclub manager Chutima Homhuan said: ‘The cat was really smart and found a possible way out. We were only able to help it because the lighting was not installed too tightly.

'In the building it is noisy at night time so normally people cannot hear a lot in the toilet roof. It's very lucky that somebody heard the cat or it could have been stuck there for a long time.

Customers and staff were heard cheering when the cat showed up its head.

The worker pulled the cat down, and it was freed in less than five minutes. A customer took it and patted its fur to calm it down.

Manager Chutima added: ‘We are now looking for someone who wants to adopt the cat. In the meantime, it will stay here with us.'
