Watch moment stolen car suspect tries to evade police after crashing into Glendale shopping mall

This is the moment a stolen car suspect tried to flee cops after crashing his car into the the Americana mall in Glendale in Los Angeles County.

Eyewitness footage shows the driver crawling out of the shattered windscreen of the vehicle and jumping onto the ground and hobbling away as police can be heard shouting, "Let us see your hands!"

According to local reports, the car slammed into an elevator area inside a parking structure. The elevator area sustained heavy damage.

In the video, police can then be seen giving chase, shouting "Get on the ground!" before the suspect and police disappear out of view.

He was taken into custody and his identity has not been released, according to reports.

"My boyfriend and I have been living here for 12 years. I was asleep and he woke me up. It all happened so quick," Newsflare's filmer said.

The incident occurred at around 3am on April 1.
