Storm crashes into bakery shop in Thailand
A violent summer storm crashed into a bakery and caused an estimated 100,000 baht (2,920 USD) of damage in Thailand.
The bout of torrential tropical rain followed soaring temperatures reaching up to 39 degrees Celsius and struck as employees were closing up the shop in Chaiyaphum province at around 5:00 PM on April 1.
CCTV footage shows the staff pulling down the shutter doors as the storm raged outside. However, powerful blasts of wind blew the doors open, leaving the shop exposed to the elements.
Despite lasting only 10 minutes, the storm had caused around 100,000 baht of damage after damaging a fridge, a display counter, and a mirror, the owner Ratthakiat Thawonwuttanayong, 55, said.
Thailand and other countries in Southeast Asia are approaching their annual monsoon rainy season which sees soaring temperatures followed by powerful rain storms.
