A massive python was caught in a vehicle's engine in a school car park in Malaysia.

The 12ft-long serpent was discovered by a shocked driver coiled inside his white sedan as he was about to leave the building in Kuching on March 31.

It refused to be coaxed out from the oily spot so firefighters had to assist. Two volunteers arrived to extract the snake from the car.

Footage shows a firefighter pouring warm water from a kettle into the engine to scare the creature. Another officer tightly held the snake on its neck as it dragged it out into the patch of grass in front of the car.

A Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson said: ‘Upon arrival at the scene, the python was found in a car's engine, which was parked at the Institute of Teacher Education parking lot.

‘After conducting a size up, the team continued to capture the snake using lures to pull it out of the engine.'

The snake was taken to the fire station while waiting for assistance from wildlife officers.

The reticulated python is found throughout Southeast Asia, where they live in forests, swamps, canals and even in cities, causing them to come into conflict with humans. The species is one of the world's largest snakes and can eat humans, cats, dogs, birds, rats and other snakes.
