Elephants walk freely around this hotel resort in Chiang Mai, northern Thailand.

Footage shows lush green forest surrounding the Tawan Riverside Elephant Resort on January 10.

Two jumbos, a mother and baby pair, were then seen strolling nearby where the cabins for the visitors were built.

Tourist Marius Sukys fed the creatures with his companion with some leaves from a tree which the tame creatures gladly took.

He said: ‘Our stay was memorable. We will definitely come back.'

Thailand has an estimated 2,000 Asian elephants living in the wild - down from 100,000 a century ago - and around 3,000 in captivity owned privately. In the wild they are seen wandering freely among protected forests, occasionally appearing on the roads that run through them.
