Mekong River has sandbars indicating low water levels at Chiang Saen

The Mekong River at Chiang Saen at the 'Golden Triangle' had a level of 1.454 metres as of April 5, according to the Mekong River Commission. It's a lower than average longterm level, indicating a low level, according to the Commission. River level in the area is largely controlled by China's Jinghong dam in Yunnan province. Shipping is affected.
