Teenager Shot Dead After Dragging Cop Inside Stolen Car In Washington, DC, USA

On March 18, 2023, in Washington, DC, USA, a police officer shot and killed a 17-year-old teenager named Dalaneo Martin who was accused of stealing a car.
According to the United States Park Police (USPP), Martin was found sleeping inside the allegedly stolen vehicle and the officers decided to break the window to pull him out without waking him up. However, Martin suddenly drove off with one of the officers still in the backseat. Shortly after, the officer "discharged his firearm" and jumped out of the vehicle, which then crashed into a house.
The other deputies pulled the driver out of the car, called for medical assistance, and administered aid, including chest compressions, but Martin was pronounced dead on the scene. The USPP stated that the officer gave verbal commands for the driver to stop, but when he did not comply, the officer discharged their firearm. A firearm was recovered inside the vehicle.
The FBI and federal prosecutors opened a civil rights investigation into the shooting.
