A female German tourist was rescued after falling from a notorious 262ft high waterfall on a Thai island.

Sina Dahmann, 38, was with her husband when she slipped on the wet rocks on the Na Muang 2 waterfall in Koh Samui, southern Thailand, on April 5.

The shaken wife was in pain and unable to walk after injuring her left ankle. Her panicked husband called the emergency services who found the couple around 30 minutes later.

Footage shows how Sina was strapped to a stretched an hauled down the mountainside into a waiting ambulance.

She said she decided to visit the waterfall because of its natural beauty but lost balance while trying to walk over the different-sized rocks.

Sina said: 'The waterfall was recommended to me so I wanted to see the view from the top. I lost control of my footing while I was walking over the rocks, because they were slippy and uneven shapes and sizes.'

Paramedics gave Sina first aid while she was taken to the local hospital for x-rays on her injured legs. She was later dischared from the Koh Samui Hospital.

Officials have now made renewed calls for tourists to avoid going to the top of the waterfall, which is next to Na Muang waterfall, where British backpacker Joshua Kohler, 20, from Norwich, was injured while climbing to the top 'to get a better view' in December last year.

Tragically, Romanian holidaymaker Nane-Iosana Bodea, 23, died in May last year while trekking on the island's idyllic Na Muang waterfall.

While Spanish backpacker David Rocamundi Conesa, 26, died on Na Muang 2 after slipping while posing for pictures at the same waterfall in July 2019. French tourist Bastien Palmier, 30, died just a few months later in November 2019 when he fell down the adjacent Na Muang waterfall.

In July 2017, Eastenders star Paul Nicholls spent two nights stranded on a waterfall in Koh Samui before being rescued and taken to a hospital, where he stayed for several weeks.
