Heavy rainfall causes deadly flooding in Sana'a and across Yemen
Video captured the scene as streets were flooded and rivers swollen in Yemen's capital Sana'a on Thursday 6 April
Heavy rainfall in southern, central, and western Yemen has led to widespread flooding, with devastating consequences for people in various parts of the country.
Reports say that in Bayhan District, Shabwa Governorate, three people lost their lives after a bus was carried away by floodwaters.
Additionally, a fatality occurred when floodwaters submerged a vehicle near Ahwar in southern Abyan Governorate.
The number of fatalities may increase as reports indicate at least two more people were also swept away by floodwaters in southern Yemen.
At least 20 homes in Al-Haraziyah, Al-Uliyah, and Taiz were submerged or otherwise damaged, leading to the evacuation of local residents.
Emergency services are working to mitigate the situation and provide aid to those affected but the situation remains critical and local authorities are urging residents to take care and follow safety measures.
