Passengers at St Pancras station in London took to social media to share their frustration with overcrowding at the station on Friday 7 April.

Video shot around noon showed long queues of customers, many of whom are presumed to be people going away for an Easter break on the Good Friday public holiday.

According to East Midlands Railway's Twitter post, the overcrowding is due to engineering work on the West Coast Mainline.

It was not the only station to suffer severe overcrowding, with similar scenes at Paddington and Marylebone stations, as passengers used those rather than the normally busy Euston station, which was shut for engineering works.

It is not clear why those carrying out the works though that one of the busiest holiday weekends of the year was a good time to do them andclose one of the busiest stations in the capital.
