Firefighters in Lodi, California rescued a scared dog that became trapped inside a car engine on April 4, 2023.

The dog climbed into the engine after a couple stopped to catch her when she was running loose on a busy road.

The Lodi Fire Department officers used jacks and stabilisation devices to secure the vehicle and dismantled part of the engine to free the dog. They brought the dog back to Station 1, where she was given a bath before being picked up by the Animal Services team and taken to the shelter.

The department reminded the community about the importance of microchipping and registering their pets to help reunite them if they become separated.
