A fascinating video captures the controlled explosion operations carried out by emergency crews on the frozen Amur River in Russia.

The objective of the operations is to break up ice jams and prevent the risk of flooding in the southeastern region of Amur. Specialists from the Amur Centre for Civil Protection and Safety performed the blasting near the village of Ushakovo, using 30 charges with a total mass of 600 lbs.

They carefully placed the charges in prepared holes along the riverbed, covering a 1,000-feet long work line. The location was selected with safety in mind, ensuring a minimum distance of 0.6 miles from the nearest settlement.

The authorities have also planned similar operations in other districts, including Magdagachinsky, Shimanovsky, Skovorodinsky, and near the village of Ivanovka on the Urkan River in the Zeya District.
