Salubong: a heartwarming Filipino Easter re-enactment of Risen Jesus meeting her sorrowful mother Mary
Salubong is a Filipino tradition during Easter where there is a pre-dawn re-enactment of Risen Christ meeting his still mourning mother Mary. The statue of Mary is covered in a black mourning dress is carried by women while the statue of the Risen Christ is carried by men along a different route. Both Mary and Risen Christ will meet at the stage where there are singing and dancing. An angel will also removed the black scarf covering the face of Mary when she meets Jesus.
