Around the 1920-1930s, several traditional markets were built in Yogyakarta by the Dutch colonialists. Among them is the Jangkang Market located in Wedomartani, Ngemplak, Sleman, Yogyakarta.

The Jangkang Market is still active today. There are 2 booths left in the northern market complex between the market stalls that were built later. The old market stall is still complete with the plaque of its steel-framed construction by Machinefabriek Braat N.V.

The Jangkang Market is known as a trading center for oxcart accessories known as bastards. The Jangkang market was built around 1930 and the market day for this market is Wage (according to the Javanese calendar, one week consists of five days, not the usual 7 days).
