Brave rescuers tackled an aggressive 13ft king cobra coiled on a resident's clothesline in Thailand.

The animal handlers went to the house in Nakhon Nayok province after homeowner Prayoon Sophin discovered the venomous reptile in his property on April 6 evening.

He said: 'I was eating dinner when I heard the dog barking non-stop near the clothesline. I went to check and the snake was hanging there under my clothes. I was scared so I called the rescue team for assistance.'

Footage shows the volunteers pulling the huge cobra off the rack using a pair of snake poles. The creature coiled itself around the equipment attempting to escape, but was eventually sealed inside a sack.

It was later released into the undergrowth away from the community. The cobra was seen crawling across the road, giving its captors one last scare as it lunged at them before slithering away into the grass.

The king cobra is the world's longest venomous snake and is endemic to Asia. It has a wide distribution across South and Southeast Asia.

King cobras are generally not aggressive, and will usually avoid humans. However, it will fiercely defend its from potential intruders.
