Customs officials seize gold worth $25,883 concealed in form of screws and trolley rods at airport in southern India
Officials of the customs department seized gold worth Rs 21, 20,180 (USD 25,883.48) concealed in the form of screws and rods of trolley wheels at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in southern India's Telangana.
The incident is reported to have happened on April 9.
Visuals showed one of the officials tearing the inside of a trolley to take out the screws. He used a screwdriver to take out the screws and then they were put in a container where many of these were kept. According to a report, the man was travelling from Dubai and was stopped. Upon searching, 455 grams (1.003 lbs) of gold was seized from him. It was learnt that a total of 64 screws and 16 rods were seized. A case was also registered against him with investigation in this matter underway.
