Indiana police officers heroically rescued five people, including a baby, from a burning house on Hawthorne Avenue in Frankfort on April 3, 2023.

The incident began when an unknown caller reported the fire and people trapped on the second floor at around 2:07 am.

Sergeant Andrew Snyder, Officer Freddy Martinez, and Officer Madison Douglass arrived on the scene within a minute of the call.
They found flames shooting from the front of the house, with heavy smoke preventing escape from the second floor.

Body-worn footage captured the officers using a ladder to evacuate the occupants from the first floor, and one officer passed the baby, who was in a car seat, to safety.

The officers' bravery has been praised, and they will be honored at a later date with the Medal of Valor. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
