Police arrested a burglary suspect who wielded a machete in South Hill, Pierce County, Washington, on March 25.

Officers responded to a commercial burglary alarm at an orthodontist's office where they found the suspect exiting the building. When officers ordered him to stop, the suspect revealed a machete tucked in his sleeve and refused to comply.

The officers used de-escalation tactics, requested backup, and fired less-lethal bean bag rounds at the suspect, who continued to flee. Eventually, the man was apprehended after additional less-lethal rounds were used.

He faces charges of first-degree burglary, resisting arrest, and obstructing.
