This is the terrifying moment a wild snake slithered around a woman's feet as she sat on the floor using her phone.

The stealthy 4ft-long serpent moved across the living room left unnoticed as Suphalak Phuwangtaep was busy watching videos in Chachoengsao province, Thailand on March 26.

Suphalak felt something cold brush past her before glancing down and leaping with fright when she saw the reptile.

CCTV footage shows the resident climbing onto her sofa escape from the animal. While loyal pet tabby cat Meow guarded the snake and did not let it near the woman.

Suphalak said: ‘I'm not sure where the snake came from. I was shocked but we later found out it was just a rat snake and not a venomous one.'

Neighbours arrived and helped to remove the snake and take it away into nearby bushes.
