A driver miraculously survived a horror crash after an out-of-control gravel truck crushed his car in Taiwan.

Shocking dashcam video shows the large vehicle speeding along the centre lane of the Sun Yat-sen Freeway in Hsinchu County on April 7.

It then rear-ended a van in front of it, before swerving to the left and crushing the Mini Cooper that was on the fast lane against the central divider.

The small car was crumpled like a tin can, but its driver emerged from the wreckage still alive.

Local media reported he was rushed to the hospital after suffering three broken ribs, and multiple bruises and scratches.

The truck driver, who was not found to be intoxicated, was also treated for minor injuries.
