Footage shows Japanese locals playing a traditional football game called 'kemari' at the Kyoto Imperial Palace on March 24.

The game, which resembles, hacky sack or football, was popular among aristocrats during Japan's Heian and Kamakura period. In modern times, it is played in Shinto shrines during seasonal events.

The participants were wearing 'kariginu' - hunting robes worn by court nobles during the Heian era.
