A severe sandstorm forced a plane from Shenyang to Jilin to make an emergency landing at Shenyang Taoxian International Airport on April 11.

Video filmed in the city of Shenyang in Liaoning Province shows yellow sandstorm shrouding the city.

A passenger named Jia described the yellow sand swirling outside the plane window and the turbulence that caused the plane to make three attempts before finally landing safely at the airport. He then had to take a high-speed train to reach Jilin.

According to Shenyang Xiantao International Airport, there were eight flights diverted to their airport due to the sandstorm in Changchun city, where wind gusts of 51.4mph were reported and expected to last until 6pm that day.

贾先生介绍，因为大风沙尘天气，窗外黄沙弥漫，飞机也非常颠簸，备降了三次，才安全着陆仙桃机场。随后又乘坐高铁才一路向北抵达吉林。
据沈阳仙桃国际机场消息，当日桃仙接收长春备降航班8班，长春机场出现大风扬沙天气，阵风23m/s，预计持续到18:00。
据中央气象台消息，今年以来，我国已出现8次沙尘天气过程，沙尘出现时间早、过程次数多，为近10年同期最多。其中4月9日至13日，西北地区、内蒙古、华北、东北及河南、湖北、湖南、安徽、山东、江苏、上海、浙江等地遭遇大范围沙尘天气，沙尘影响覆盖20余个省（市、区），影响面积超过450万平方公里；期间，内蒙古、山西、河北、北京等地出现沙尘暴，内蒙古局地出现强沙尘暴。此外，4月20日前，北方地区没有明显降水天气过程，沙尘将频繁出没，请公众继续做好健康防护，同时防范局地沙尘暴导致的低能见度对交通的不利影响。
