Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Radio Telescope (FAST), located in Guizhou Province, China. The main project of FAST started in 2011 and was completed in 2016; it will be officially opened for operation on January 11, 2020.
The FAST pioneered a new model for building giant telescopes, building a radio telescope with a reflective surface equivalent to 30 soccer fields and a sensitivity more than 2.5 times that of the world's second largest telescope, expanding the horizons of mankind for exploring the universe.
China is one of the first countries in the world to start astronomy. The FAST is a great project that combines the efforts of several generations of Chinese people, not only reflects China's scientific and technological power, but also shows China's wisdom.
