The Tough Mudder event will not be returning to Finsbury Park after the endurance race caused extensive damage to the north London site.

Locals have complained after the event had left parts of the park with waterlogged tracks and areas of thick, boggy ground.

Labour MP for Tottenham David Lammy tweeted: "I surveyed the damage today. Utterly appalled. I have nothing against @Toughmudder but Finsbury Park is an inner city urban park and the damage done is an environmental disgrace. There are serious questions about how and why this licence was granted, enforced and policed."

Footage from April 16 shows hundreds of competitors taking on the event.
