Padang City Fire Department officials rescued a large 9.8-foot-long python that was trapped in a ditch.

Footage from April 17 shows wading through ankle-deep water to reach the stranded snake.

They eventually manage to haul the serpent out of the ditch back to safety.

Sutan Hendra, head of the city's fire department, said: "When we were about to evacuate the snake wrapped around the rock, it turned out that the body of the snake was pinned by a rock, we were looking for the head of the snake to pick it up and lift the snake up, to put it in a container."

The snake will later be released back into the wild.
