Hong Kongers protest visit by Treasury Secretary Christopher Hui at London's Guildhall
Activists in London staged a protest during the first visit from a Hong Kong government minister since the UK accused accused China of breaking the Sino-British Joint Declaration (April 17).
Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Christopher Hui was speaking at the City of London's Guildhall, where protesters called for the Hong Kong government to be sanctioned for violating the declaration and withholding pension payments for any citizen who moved to the UK on a permanent basis under the British National Overseas BN(O) visa scheme.
As Christopher Hui left the back of the building, protesters attempted to catch up with his vehicle which drove a short distance to the Bank of China.
Joss paper usually burnt during funerals was seen blowing outside the building, and thrown in other circumstances to express anger.
