Volunteers share knowledge in villages within the Conservation area

The Jayapura City Ecodefender Community together with a number of Cenderawasih University lecturers and students voluntarily held learning activities with children aged Kindergarten, Elementary School, Junior High School to High School in Enggros Village, Abepura District, Jayapura City, Papua Province, Saturday (15/15) 4/2023).
This learning activity covers letter recognition for Kindergarten age children, making vegetable seeds for Primary School age children, as well as learning to type on the computer for Middle School and Senior High School age children.
Apart from that, the volunteers also gave children an understanding of the importance of protecting the sea and forests around Enggros Village from plastic waste by behaving in an environmentally friendly manner.
Head of Jayapura City Ecodefender Community, Nelce Assem said, this activity was carried out in Enggros Village, because this village is located on a conservation area site. The need for an understanding of the environment from an early age, so that later when they become youths and adults, they are able to protect their territory from various threats.
This village is located in the Youtefa Bay Natural Tourism Park area which is in the Yos Sudarso Bay area which was stipulated by Decree of the Minister of Agriculture Number 372/kpts/Um/6/1978 dated 9 June 1978.
In 1996 the legal status of the Youtefa Bay area was strengthened by the issuance of the Decree of the Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia Number 714/kpts/1996 dated 11 November 1996 concerning the Designation of the Youtefa Bay Area as a Conservation Area with Designation as a Natural Tourism Park covering an area of ​​1,657 hectares.
Youtefa Bay Tourism Park is flanked by two headlands jutting from the left side, namely Cape Pie and Cape Saweri which are on the right side separated by a small strait about 300 meters wide which is called the Tobati Strait and is also the entrance and exit of Youtefa Bay from the sea. (Yos Sudarso Bay).
Youtefa Bay Tourism Park includes flat to undulating lowlands with an altitude range of 0-73 meters above sea level. Apart from that, there are mangrove/mangrove forests and in several other parts there are mountainous areas and also sago forests that stand on the sidelines of the mountains.
Kampung Injros has an area of ​​33.37 ha, with administrative boundaries, namely: to the north it is bordered by Tobati Village; to the south it is bordered by Abepantai sub-district, to the west by Waimhorock sub-district and to the east by Holtekamp Village.
