This is the terrifying moment a sleeping woman woke up to find a snake lying right next to her.

Suvanan Ornkam was tossing around on her mattress in Bangkok, Thailand when the reptile slithered onto her arm on April 13.

CCTV footage shows her unwittingly touching the snake that had nestled on her side, thinking it was just a stray power cord.

However, when she shined a smartphone light to check, she found herself face to face with the serpent.

She remained motionless in shock, with the unexpected bedfellow later slithering away without biting her.

A grateful Suvanan said: 'I am short-sighted. I couldn't see the snake clearly so I used the screen lights from my phone to check what was on my bed. When I found it was a snake, I was terrified.

'I froze with fear. I couldn't move because I was scared it would go into my mother's bed next. Luckily, it just left without hurting us.'
