A ten-wheel truck was stuck in an underpass after its bungling driver misjudged the vertical clearance.

The lorry tried to pass under the Mahanam Bridge in Ang Thong province, Thailand, while delivering rice to Sing Buri province on April 17.

It was almost out of the tunnel, but became stuck when its cargo containers began to scrape the 12ft-high underpass ceiling while nearing the exit.

The driver, Phol Rodphol, 55, had to call for traffic authorities for help.

The officers arrived and found the truck clogging the underpass and blocking other drivers.

They had to partially deflate the tires to lower the truck's height and allow it to wobble through without damaging the bridge. The operation took around three hours.

Phol said: 'When I looked at the height of the bridge, I thought I could drive through normally. But while passing through, the truck became stuck. I'm lucky there was not much damage.'

One of the truck's trailers, which was left in the under pass, was later towed away.
