Magellanic Penguins Build Nests To Prepare For Annual Mating Season In Chicago, IL, USA

The Shedd Aquarium in Chicago, Illinois shared a heartwarming video on April 11th, showing Magellanic penguins preparing for their annual mating season by building nests.
The footage captures a penguin carrying straw in its beak and climbing up a rocky structure to reach its mate. The penguins are provided with materials such as rocks, pieces of hose, and lavender to mimic their natural habitat, and both male and female penguins participate in the nest building process.
Rockhopper penguins are particularly selective about the rocks they choose and will even steal stones from other nests to adorn their own.
