Elderly Chinese woman mistakes fireworks for incense during religious ritual
A 90-year-old woman mistook fireworks for incense during the religious ritual in eastern China.
CCTV footage filmed in Rugao city in Jiangsu Province on April 15 shows an elderly woman performing a ritualistic incense offering to a deity when she accidentally lit fireworks that were stored in the house, mistaking them for incense.
The fireworks immediately went off, filling the house with sparks and smoke. Remarkably, the grandmother remained calm throughout the incident, even inserting the spent fireworks into the incense burner afterwards.
According to Mr Xu, his grandmother is 90 years old and partially deaf, and the fireworks looked very similar to incense, leading her to believe that everything was normal.
Fortunately, no one was harmed during this incident.
The video was provided by Mr Xu.
