Ash cloud erupts from Mount Semeru volcano in Indonesia
This is the moment a cloud of ash and smoke erupted from Mount Semeru in Indonesia on Wednesday.
Footage shows the thick plume spilling from the volcano's crater and appearing to flow down its slopes in East Java on April 19.
The Semeru Volcano Observation Post reported that Mount Semuru erupted 16 times between 6 AM to 12 noon local time. It released hot ash up to two kilometres away from the crater.
Wawan Hadi Siswoyo, Head of Prevention, Preparedness, and Logistics of the Lumajang Regional Disaster Agency, said: 'It was a small explosion but we still appeal to residents around Mount Semeru to remain vigilant, alert, and to not panic.'
