This loyal mini pig guards her family's coconut orchard like a security officer.

The burly 'security guard' named Muruay patrols her owners' property in Ratchaburi province, Thailand, intimidating potential trespassers with her appearance.

The one-year-old pig belonged to Jarudech Chankong, 31, who keeps her on the farm as a pet.

Jarudech said: 'Muruay behaves differently from other pigs who stay with us. She acts more like a dog than a pig.

'My father bought Muruay's parents, and now Muruay and another pig named Numchok remain on our farm.'

Muruay would typically spend her day roaming the eight-acre orchard, keeping a watchful eye on strangers or suspicious vehicles until they leave the area.

Jarudech said she does this on her own, and was not trained to act as a guard dog.

Despite her protective behaviour, Muruay is not aggressive, and has never attacked anyone. She gets along especially well with the three pet dogs at home.

Jarudech said: 'During the hot season, Muruay would approach me asking to be doused with water. She is very affectionate with people she knows well.'
