A Russian fighter-jet accidentally bombed the Russian city of Belgorod, near the border of Ukraine, injuring three people and leaving a 20m crater. The incident occurred at 10.15 local time on April 20.

CCTV footage captured the moment of the explosion that rocked the intersection of Gubkin and Vatutin streets. A car can be seen driving by as the blast occurs. It has been reported that a vehicle ended up on the roof of a supermarket following the bombing.

The explosion prompted the evacuation of a nine-storey residential building. Nearby constructions were also damaged, windows were shattered and shards of glass rained down on the street.

The Russian Ministry of Defense admitted that the blast was caused by an "accidentally discharged aircraft ordnance" dropped by a Sukhoi-34 warplane.

Russian authorities cordoned off the area and launched an investigation into the incident.
