Philippine cobra caught in family’s ceiling after terrorising residents
A Philippine cobra was caught in a family's ceiling after terrorising residents.
The juvenile but nonetheless deadly serpent slithered inside a hut at a village in Catanduanes province, the Philippines on February 14 night.
Despite being spotted, the creature went on to explore the structure until it climbed up the beams to stay away from rescuers.
Footage shows the 2ft-long snake crawling across the small home. It hid behind a wooden pillar before climbing up the metal sheet wall.
Wildlife officer Feliciano de Leon Jr said: ‘I went there after receiving reports that the venomous snake was seen multiple times entering houses and properties. They were afraid.'
More rescuers arrived later and caught it on the property. The snake was not hurt and was placed inside a sack before being taken to the wildlife office.
Wildlife officer Feliciano added: ‘For the security of families, we relocated it. We will release it later into its habitat.'
The Philippine cobra is one of the most venomous spitting cobra species in the world. Its venom can lead to death in humans within only half an hour.
