Olive Ridley Turtle s eggs were collected by the forest department of Tamilnadu government with the help of Nature lovers. The eggs were then taken to the hatcheries and kept in a warm conditions to hatch.

Later after 50 days the hatchings were released in the sea. This time the forest officials released 200 hatclings in the sea.

Sand sculpture for creating awareness on saving the Oliver Ridley Turtles were also carved in the shores of Kaniyakumari.
