India is currently experiencing an intense heatwave, with above-normal temperatures persisting across the country. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a heatwave warning for several parts of the nation, as the mercury continues to soar.

On Saturday, temperatures in most parts of India ranged from 40 to 44 degrees Celsius, leaving residents sweltering in the heat. Hamirpur and Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh were among the hottest areas, with temperatures reaching a scorching 44.2 degrees Celsius.

According to experts, a heatwave is declared when the temperature exceeds 40°C, and the deviation from normal is at least 4.5 degrees.

This heatwave is expected to continue in most parts of central, east, and northwest India.
