Footage has emerged from China of firefighters rescuing a little boy, who managed to fall through the bars outside the window of a first floor flat.

In the video, captured in Guangxi region on Thursday, a man on a ladder can be seen holding the child while firefighters work to cut through the window railings.

According to news reports, the helpful man, a neighbour of the family first noticed the emergency when the boy's parents were out shopping.

Fortunately the toddler escaped the ordeal and was rescued without injuries.
